Brexit

Firstly, let me state that I firmly voted remain and would again. I can, however, see that some people voted the other way possibly because there are other prisms through which to view the issue than economic. Maybe they’re willing to make financial sacrifices in order to gain something else they perceive as more important.

Also, I’ve been thinking that we’re always being told that we’re killing the planet with our consumer-hungry lifestyles, so perhaps some shrinkage is no bad thing, albeit uncomfortable.

Not dogmatic about any of this. Just some thoughts. I think the incredulity about the other side’s position, from both sides, is unhelpful. There are intelligent, decent people holding either view, and there’s evidence that both sides voted blindly, but I’ve yet to hear anyone give a sensible route through this that would be democratically acceptable to the country as a whole.
